Geo Tweet is a twitter based tool that allows you to interact with people in a specific geography. The mash-up also allows you to do keyword searches as well as create Rss feeds based upon those searches. This tools has a lot benefits to those looking to leverage Twitter for B2B marketing and client building.

So a friend of mine just told me about this new mash up, at least it’s new to me, called Geo Chirp. And Geo Chirp is a Twitter mash up which allows you to do searches on a radius or a local level. And it also allows you to subscribe to the searches, so very much like Google Alerts, you can put various searches into the tool itself, set your radius as well as the number of tweets for the specific keyword and then have those set up in an RSS feed to actually subscribe to those.

So I’m really interested in starting to use this, my friend is actually a real estate agent so what he says he’s done to kind of take advantage of this tool is: he’ll put in keyword terms specific to his industry so anytime someone’s looking for a home, they’ll come up, and he can, you know, follow up.

I’m going to do a couple of tests here. So I’m going to put in “Website” because I do website development. You know, let’s see here, a real world right on the border of Washington and Idaho, so I’m going to go ahead and do the furthest radius I can here and Search and see what kind of stuff comes up.

All right, great! Well, that’s nice to see, one of my websites is actually up here at the top, or one of my tweets, I should say. Let’s see what else people are saying here.

So this person’s thread says that they updated their website and they’re asking people to check it out. So it might be an opportunity for me to see what they’re doing and see if perhaps my services would benefit them. Here’s another person talking about the best way to promote your website.

So yeah, I can really zone in on those within a local area. So I think there’s a lot of ways to use this tool specifically for local marketing.
